Coins have a long history of bringing good luck. Coins are an obvious symbol of prosperity and wealth. Coins with holes are especially auspicious. An old superstition from England holds that if you always carry a coin with a hole in your purse or pocket, you will never be without money. Coins minted in a leap year are especially lucky, as are coins minted in the year you were born or a year that is special. A special year could be your wedding year, the year you got your first job, your graduation year and so on. A jar of coins in your kitchen is said to bring prosperity and wealth into the household. Bent, crooked or damaged coins are always lucky. If you find a bent coin you can count your blessings. Some give a bent coin to a person they care deeply about for good luck.
